This creamy, tangy Puerto Rican mayo-ketchup sauce is a classic dipping sauce served with tostones, fries, sandwiches, and many traditional island dishes. It takes just minutes to make and instantly upgrades any meal with authentic Boricua flavor.
If you’ve ever had tostones in Puerto Rico, chances are they were served with this exact sauce on the side.
🥣 What Is Mayo-Ketchup?

Mayo-ketchup (also called mayoketchup) is a simple blend of mayonnaise and ketchup, often enhanced with garlic and lime for extra flavor. It’s creamy, slightly sweet, tangy, and addictive — and it pairs perfectly with crispy foods like fried plantains and pork.

🧄 Ingredients
  • 1/2-cup mayonnaise

  • 1/2-cup ketchup

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (or 1 small clove finely grated)

  • Pinch of salt and pepper(optional)

Optional add-ins (Puerto Rican style):

  • Pinch of smoked paprika

  • Dash of hot sauce (for spicy mayo-ketchup)

🥄 How to Make Mayo-Ketchup
  1. Add mayonnaise and ketchup to a small bowl.

  2. Stir until fully smooth and evenly combined.

  3. Mix in garlic, and salt if using.

  4. Taste and adjust — add more ketchup or Mayo to your taste.

  5. Chill for 10–15 minutes for best flavor (optional but recommended).

That’s it — your mayo-ketchup is ready to serve!
